Digital Paleontology

2025-01-08
This series is about unearthing the truth beneath the revisionist gloss. It’s about remembering when Prodigy had parental controls more advanced than half the apps in the App Store today, when websites blinked because someone told them to—not because they were glitching, and when people thought "surfing" meant waiting for a page to load while you read your newspaper. Digital Paleontology doesn’t try to make the past look better than it was. But it does insist we stop pretending it was the same as now. Because if you squint at a blinking GeoCities page and say “that’s basically like Instagram,” you’ve already lost the plot.
